Banpu Australia and Centennial Coal (Centennial) had the pleasure of hosting a team of delegates from the Royal Thai Consulate General (Sydney) on 26 November 2014.
The delegation was led by Mr Teerathep Promvongsanon (Consul General, 4th from left), Mr Chatchai Viriyavejakul (Deputy Consul General, far right), and Mr Jeerasak Pomsuwan (Consul, 2nd from left).
The delegates were received by Dr Kirana Limpaphayom (Executive Director, Banpu Australia), Mr David Moult (MD & CEO, Centennial Coal), and Mr Peter Parry (Executive GM, Finance, Centennial Coal) in the Sydney office.
The delegation was provided with an overview of Banpu’s businesses, and in particular their investment in Australia and Centennial Coal’s mining operations. The purpose of the visit was to foster a long-term relationship between the Royal Thai Government agency in Australia and Centennial, an Australian subsidiary of a Thai company.
There was an exchange of views relating to the energy landscape within Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. An invitation was offered for a future visit to one of Centennial mines to provide a first hand understanding of how the issue of health, safety, environment, and community (HSEC) is integrated and promoted successfully within coal mining in Australia. Additionally, such a visit would also demonstrate Centennial’s significant contribution to the supply of electricity in the State of New South Wales.
