For the past ten years Centennial’s Western based operations have held an annual ‘Centennial West Charity Golf Day,’ to raise much needed funds for local Lithgow charities.

Over the past decade the event has helped raise over $ AUD 220,000 and brings together members from all of Centennial’s Western operations, making Lithgow Golf Club the place to be.

“This year, we had the largest field take to the green with 240 participants and 25 volunteers helping run the day. It was truly remarkable to see so many people turn up to help support local charities,” said Centennial’s Mitch Luka who has organised the event for the past three years.

The golf day saw 40 teams, made-up of six members each, compete in an Ambrose format competition. To ensure no one walked away empty handed, each team member was presented with a prize at the end of the competition.

“We awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes based on score cards, with subsequent prizes being awarded based on the following scores card, so everyone felt like a winner on the day. It also helped us to thank everyone for attending and supporting the event,” continued Mitch.

Taking home first prize was the Charbon team, with two Springvale teams coming in a close second and third.

“On the day we raised $32,000 and we are now working on allocating the funds across local groups such as Early Intervention Lithgow, Tanderra Nursing Home and Lithgow Prostate Support Group,” concluded Mitch.
