Centennial has completed the construction of a two-megawatt solar farm at the Airly mine site near Capertee New South Wales, Australia.
The $5 million project involved the installation of 5000 photovoltaic solar panels on four hectares of the mine site which was previously approved for mining operations.
It will provide a significant portion of daytime energy requirements for Airly Mine and deliver any excess energy generated back to the grid.
Centennial’s digital capability centre has installed a range of hardware and software to help gain valuable insights into system integration and technical aspects of a solar installation at a mine and solar generation and operation to provide a basis for future expansion in solar. Solar energy is a clean and renewable source of electricity with no greenhouse gases released during generation.
