Who we are
Centennial is an Australian mining company supplying domestic and export markets.
Our coal fuels around 20% of NSW’s coal-fired electricity generating capacity, while we also manage a successful export business.
With the support of Banpu, a leading integrated energy solutions company in Asia Pacific, we deliver a superior service to our customers.
Established in 1989 and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 1994, Centennial was a coal mining and marketing company supplying thermal coal to the domestic and export markets.
From our small beginnings in 1989 and a $20 million listing in 1994, Centennial grew to be a top S&P/ASX 100 company. Upon the takeover by Banpu Public Company Limited and ASX de-listing in 2010, our market capitalisation had grown to approximately $2.5 billion.
Centennial is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Banpu Public Company Limited. Centennial has approximately 1,700 employees; five operating mines; a variety of projects underway, including potential new mining projects and rehabilitation projects; and renewable energy projects at Airly (solar farm) and Mandalong (waste coal mine gas power station).
Replicating the success and global leadership of our parent company, Centennial is transitioning from an organisation based solely on coal to a diversified energy company with three pillars:
- Energy Resources
- Energy Technology
- Energy Generation.
